Federico Bertolo
He subsequently returned to Italy, to Bologna, where he worked with the master of light, Mario Nanni, at Viabizzuno, becoming head of the company’s architecture and lighting design departments in 2018. Thanks to this experience, he has collaborated with international firms such as David Chipperfield Architects, John Pawson and Foster and Partners, as well as on iconic projects such as Oscar Niemeyer’s Palazzo Mondadori, Le Corbusier’s Pavillon de l’Esprit Nouveau, Antoni Gaudí’s Casa Battló and the collections and exhibitions at Palazzo Abatellis in Palermo.
In 2021, he opened his own architecture studio in Vicenza, conceived as a space for the design and creation of culture, a workshop open to innovation yet, at the same time, rooted in the specific craft traditions of the local area. Among his most significant projects is the renovation of the former Cinema Corso in Vicenza.
Federico Bertolo has developed a personal exploration of stone materials through the temporary exhibition “Innesti” (Vicenza 2023, Vicenza and Bologna 2026) and through recent projects for the showroom and the Link collection for Pibamarmi; he has also established significant collaborations with Fincantieri, Operae Interiors, Bolton Group and Factor Real Estate. Since 2025, he has been a member of the board of directors of the Mario Nanni Foundation, a non-profit organisation that focuses on expertise, promoting personal, cultural and professional growth in design.
