Changing Identity

What design themes does contemporary Italian architecture address? Through what approaches and what languages? To answer these questions, Pibamarmi is organising a series of three events that create a forum for discussion between critics and professionals, exploring an architecture with an increasingly multifaceted and complex identity that does not speak with a single voice, but thrives on cross-pollination, fusion and constant reinvention. “Changing Identity. A Comparison of Italian Architectures” has been created to explore the trajectories of architectural development in our country, offering a space for open debate.

The current scenario extends far beyond the boundaries of the theoretical manifestos of the past. Today we are faced with an architecture that is syncretic and positively hybrid in nature, capable of reconciling historical memory and the celebration of numerous regional characteristics with the demands of the contemporary world, ranging from technological experimentation to sustainability.

Through a series of discussions, architecture critics and architects will compare their working methods and their respective visions of the present and the future. Each session will provide an opportunity to analyse the approaches and languages that define the Italian architectural scene, demonstrating how diversity and fluidity are not limitations but the very lifeblood of a new and vibrant cultural identity.

The talks, organised in collaboration with the OAPPC in Vicenza and offering 2 CFP credits for architects PPC for each session, will follow this schedule:
